A brief overview of our featured products: Bulk items; we like to source fine food products in bulk to pass on the price advantage to our valued customers: Northern California Olive Oil; We offer only certified Extra-Virgin Olive oil by the California Olive Oil Council (COOC) Marinated Olives; We buy high quality olives grown and cured in N-California, make our own famous oil marinates here in Hood River in many different varieties, taste the big difference! Balsamic Vinegar; Try our sweet syrupy Balsamic from Modena, Italy. This one will find many uses in your gourmet kitchen. Pour drops over your grilled shrimps, steak or fish, salads or Italian Parmesan cheese. In combination with our olive oil it is wonderful for dipping. Unbelievable but try some drops over your favorite dessert like vanilla or peach ice cream. Rye Breads & the Original Bavarian Pretzel; Our German artisan baker friend in Portland creates wonderful rye breads and the original Bavarian Pretzel. Rye bread is way different to wheat bread, it is very tasteful when fresh but getting even more delicious when seasoned a few days or even a week old...The Pretzel in contrast has to be enjoyed when fresh so eat it the same day. Italian Artisan Pasta; The main difference between Pasta and Artisan Pasta is the process of drying the product. Industrial produced pasta is dried in a kiln or oven at high temperature...the one we carry is carefully hand cut and air dried in a natural and old fashioned way. This creates a different texture and the cooked pasta will absorb more sauce than usual. Wine; A new approach to excellent wine...we do have the "Wine"Growler, a 750ml glass jug...refillable. Buy once the bottle, rinse and keep it clean after finishing the wine, come back to the store for refills. Hard Apple Cider; crafted from local Hood River apples, a refreshing alcoholic beverage. Sold in re-fillable flip-top bottles. Mediterranean Style Foods; there is a certain food culture around the Mediterranean Sea with variations between different countries; Spain, Italy, Turkey, Greece, Morocco, to name just a few. We have specialties from many of them. The Mediterranean Food Pyramid is interesting and a healthy one at the same time and it includes the consumption (moderate) of wine as well. Here a few examples of our offerings: Cured Meat Products (Pork): Prosciutto & Speck, very similar to each other just different spices used to flavor the meat. It takes at least 9 month to one year to finish a ham in the prosciutto or speck style. The main difference between the two is that speck is slightly smoked. Speck is a typical product of the Alpine regions of N-Italy and Austria. Salami, ground pork meat, fermented and air dried. Comes in many varieties from plain to herb flavored to spicy. The staple food in S-Europe. Bresoala, cured and air dried beef loin. Delicious with olive oil and balsamic vinegar served as an antipasti. Cheese: So many varieties, not enough time to describe. We carry excellent products from Montana, Washington and Wisconsin as well as some classic imports from Italy and Spain. Our selection is rotating and varies from month to month. Antipasti: We make our own varieties and carry fine ingredients for all kinds of occasions and recipes. Anchovies, Cornichons, Sun Dried Tomatoes, Dolmas, Salted Capers, Caper Berries and many more. Sandwiches: Freshly prepared from our breads & cured meats. A little different...the European way!
